First of all, you should never pay for any survey company or focus group. Any such company that asks for a membership is a pure scam.

Secondly, payouts for surveys and such depend on a lot of factors that widely vary. If you are looking to take surveys because you think you'll make a ton of money off of it, then it's a wash. It is possible to make money off of them (in combination with other things like PTC, focus groups, etc.), but it won't be enough to subsist on as a regular income.
