It's wrong for them to ask and the information can be used to steal your identity and for other purposes. Sometimes if you give a one word response they won't let you go any further with the survey. So to get around it for instance if they ask where do you want to be in 5 years I will answer something like I haven't given it any thought or I am not sure what the future will bring to me. I guess the reason they do it is to make sure it is a real person completing the survey and a bot isn't being used.
