Sometimes if you give a one word response they won't let you go any further with the survey. So to get around it for instance if they ask where do you want to be in 5 years I will answer something like I haven't given it any thought or I am not sure what the future will bring to me. I guess the reason they do it is to make sure it is a real person completing the survey and a bot isn't being used. But yes not only are the questions personal but usually have nothing to do with the subject matter of the survey.

A few months ago I was asked if I had ever had a fatal accident. I'm not convinced it was a 'trick' question given some of the logic fails I encounter.
