PrivacyFirst
Hi everyone, I am a new survey-taker. I've never done this before and didn't know this was a thing until a few days ago. TLDR: Are there any paid survey sites besides Paidviewpoint that are more friendly to those concerned about privacy and protecting their information? -------------------------------------------------- Let me give you my UN-paid viewpoint on this experience... It's been interesting so far. This website and forum have been very helpful. However, my experience with survey sites has been mostly unsatisfactory so far, and it's mostly been due to the lack of respect of privacy and lack of transparency by the survey companies. My only good experience so far has been with Paidviewpoint, and I have not yet built up enough to make a withdrawal, so we'll see what they do when its withdrawal time. Will they require my driver's license? If so, this will be the end of my time with Paidviewpoint. Other ones I looked at or tried but discontinued right away were: Qmee (#1 and #3 below), TGM (other reasons), Tellwut (#2 below), Here are my experiences so far with survey sites other than Paidviewpoint: 1. They surprise you. You create an account with Company #1 only to find out that their surveys are all hosted by Company #2, and Company #2 has terrible, disrespectful TOS & PP. And why is there even a Company #2 at all; its not necessary; just let me deal with Company #1 only, or Company #2 only; why both? No. 2. They plan to ask you for your government ID when its time to pay you. They have in their TOS that they may require you to authenticate or verify your ID when it is time to collect your rewards. For a questionable survey website that I have no prior relationship with and whom I have not authenticated as legitimate to require me to upload my driver's license to pay out micro payments of $5, $10, and $15 to my PayPal account is ludicrous and demonstrates a disregard for the safety of my personally identifiable information. A survey website is not a bank or a government entity, and has no right to ask for that information. Any entity that seeks to collect and store copies of driver's licenses and other such sensitive documentation IMO needs to be held to a higher standard, register with the government, comply with strict privacy laws and regular monitoring by oversight bodies. 3. Some of them want to ask for your sensitive information such as politics, religion, bedroom habits, and other such invasive information. No thanks. Are there any paid survey sites besides Paidviewpoint that are more friendly to those concerned about privacy and protecting their information? Thanks everyone.
Sandy21
Welcome to the world of survey taking. It is not what it used to be and continues to get worse. I've been doing this for 25 years and belonged to a multitude of sites, reduced to only 4 for which I am somewhat active. Those are Paidviewpoint ( thank you SP members for suggesting this site,) Tellwut, which is ok, but I've had my problems and not enough surveys as of late. But Tellwut has never asked for anything more from me but the usual name, address, phone number and demographics. I am still with Branded, been with them for many years) but there is not much there for me. Surveys are always full, I repeatedly finish surveys and only get 2 points, stating that I don't qualify after completing the entire survey. Clear Voice has given me some product testing but not much more, been a member for less than a year. I ABSOLUTELY will not supply drivers license, passport, social security number, anything else private or like that online. I feel enough of my personal info is out there, much to my dismay. If asked for it, I'll quit or not join. I am being totally annoyed by Dynata constantly calling me on my cell phone, always from a different phone number. At least Dynata shows up in the caller ID. I have no idea how they got my cell phone number, I try to be so careful. I've done all I can to stop them, but nothing works. Beware of Dynata! And Cint is another baddie, back out of surveys from them. I do surveys to get the extra perks I couldn't otherwise afford. I am a widow, have a full-time job, my own professional business, and 3 kids under 25, so my time is limited I could never make online survey-taking my full-time job, just not lucrative enough. If you choose to join survey sites, realistically set your expectations. You are going to take LONG surveys, for which you often will not get paid, short surveys too. CS is usually not helpful and I've pretty much given up contacting them. Choose wisely which surveys to take and learn from your own experiences. Everyone is unique and qualifies for different things. Back out of surveys that say they are 15 minutes and are FAR more, happens a lot so don't waste your precious time. People here on SP are totally amazing and will give you some wonderful suggestions. Read them and pick and choose what might apply to you. I wish you luck in this totally insane world of surveys!
mnleona
Welcome. NEVER give you SS# or cc information. Never pay to do a survey. They are supposed to pay you.

Great advice! I've never been asked to pay to take a survey. Have you? That's beyond pathetic!! Also have never been asked for a credit card info. gothicnaturefreak
Not sure I can help you much. But I've seen random posts on different sites from people saying they were randomly asked to provide ID. I've never been asked to provide my ID. Some of the sites I use probably say they may ask for ID in their TOS... I wouldn't know why or what would trigger them to want to do that. If they did, I'd first try to ask them why they want it and then if it's possible for them to remove the ID request cause I wouldn't be comfortable giving it. If they refuse to remove the request and keep demanding ID. I'd delete my account. On Reddit the subreddit r/beermoney may be a good website to learn about surveys, survey sites, and related stuff if you want to check it out. PrivacyFirst
So far so good with Paidviewpoint. I was able to transfer my first payout without any trouble. However, PrimeOpinion ended up being a disappointment and short-lived. I created an account with PrimeOpinion, only to learn that 100% of their surveys are through third-parties, whom each have their own privacy policy that I have to read. And upon reading them, I was not comfortable with them. Also, almost all of these surveys that PrimeOpinion sent me to were too invasive, wanting information about me that was digging too deep such as religious or political or sexual info, and the surveys are too cumbersome. I felt like the claws were trying to dig into me. No thanks. Are all of these paid survey sites like this now, transferring their user off-site to a third-party? No thanks. I have never found those type questions to be an invasion of privacy. I have skimmed a few of the privacy policies and all are normal NDAs. Nothing unusual , at least to me , as I have worked under them most of my life.

NFriday
Almost all surveys ask your age, your sexual orientation, your race, and your age. Some ask your income, religion, or your political preferences. Because of the recent election, there were a lot of political surveys, including the political cat one, which I probably got 100 times in different variations. I don't find any of this invasive. The only thing I am reluctant to give is a copy of my ID, and my social security number If you are uncomfortable with discussing politics, then you would not like YouGov. About 50% of their surveys are political. Paid Viewpoint and YouGov only have their own surveys, but the majority of the survey companies have surveys from numerous sources. . Forthright mostly has surveys from Universities, and does have some political surveys. Sandy, who posts on here a lot, has a neighbor who is Hispanic, and Sandy turned her onto surveys. Her neighbor gets way more surveys than Sandy does because she is Hispanic, and has three kids at home.
PrivacyFirst
I will not answer questions about my political views, my spiritual views, or anything sexual except for my gender. To me, these questions are invasive, especially if the site is going to ask for an ID; in effect this would create a profile with my real identification that is attached to my personally identifiable information and a full profile of deeply personal information, and this profile will be collected, sold, and re-sold, and made available to corporations and governments. I am fine with answering questions about my purchasing habits, purchasing preferences, and my basic demographic information, but not much more than that. I did create an account on Forthright a few weeks ago, but it has never had any surveys for me.
NFriday
The thing I like about Forthright, is that after three DQ you still get $2 from them. You do get some surveys that ask you about your political affiliation though. I did one yesterday that did. It was from a University.
