factonista
Got this in my inbox this AM: This email is to let you know that we will be tightening therequirements for our participants to remain active participants in our pool. We are tightening the requirements because we want to be sure that the results we get in our studies are robust and generalizable to an average population of people. The problem is that participants that have taken very many of these studies become so familiar with these kinds of studies over time that they often unintentionally answer differently than they otherwise would if they had never taken a study. This can throw off our results, even invalidate them, causing us to have to rethink and rerun the study in a new way. And it doesn't help you to legitimately contribute to science. This is bad for us, and bad for you. Therefore, we will be deactivating participants that have taken an excessive number of studies, to be determined. This will take effect within the next week. Often, we find participants signing up for a study in the system and eventually not completing it - this is roughly 10% of all participants that sign up. In the future, we suggest that when you sign up for a study that you actually complete the study, because our system marks when you have signed up for a study, not if you have completed it or not. Our new policy should give you incentive to actually take the studies that you sign up for. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please do not email us asking to request your account to be reactivated as we will be unable to accommodate you. We are doing this in the interest of psychological science. We are grateful for your participation in our pool, and your understanding. Sincerely, The Stanford GSB Behavioral Lab So, any of you out there looking to join Stanford GSB, this may be your opportunity. You might take my spot. gene55
Yeah, mine too. I got the same email. I hate to loose them but I can understand what they are saying. I never do the lottery ones so I am hoping that might help me in the long run. Guess we will see next week. Factonista, how long have you been with them? TSP1973
I just got this email also. But the good thing is that I haven't done much with them, so I shouldn't be one of those that they drop. But I wonder about the people that they are dropping? What is going to happen if you have money with them? Are they going to send them the money or are they just going to drop them without paying them if they have a balance?

I'm not optimistic that I'll survive "the purge."
KBLover
Gotta love mysterious "requirements" then they might drop you without you knowing you crossed some line they just created. People who take their studies are going to get dropped? What? They take what they sign up for, and they will drop those people? Bah.
factonista
I think I must still be in good standing with their mysterious requirements because I got 2 invites this week.
TSP1973
95% of the surveys I get from them are Sweeps only surveys! Very few I get from them offer actual money for there surveys, so I have hardly done any of the surveys they send me!
gene55
95% of the surveys I get from them are Sweeps only surveys! Very few I get from them offer actual money for there surveys, so I have hardly done any of the surveys they send me! I was just looking back at my records and last Jan. I made $23 with them and in Feb I made $35 but after that it was 5-10 dollars per month. I refuse to do surveys for a lottery ticket. But you can't blame them, if they can find enough damn fools to do their studies for free, why would they want to pay? They should do a study on how many idiots will work for free. I have read on other forums where some fools say its for a good cause. I agree that education is a good cause but they get tons of money for these studies but they get to keep it because of people working for 3rd world wages or for nothing. My daughter is starting college next year and I absolutely cannot believe what it is going to cost. Thank goodness she has very good grades and will get some scholarships but those scholarships will-not even come close to paying for her education. I wish I could get the college of her choice in a lottery where they have a 1 in a 100 chance that I pay them, wouldn't that be something?
