Beware of "New and Improved" and "Earn Up To"

Every survey company that emails me about "new and improved" rewards, etc is suspect. Previously, they rewarded with Paypal or checks and now offering gift certificates with inflated points. Certainly "new and improved" for them. Also, "Earn Up To" is bait and switch, rarely earn the "up to" amount. Just completed a 30 minute survey for earn up to 1000 points which is $1 and I received much less. I guess "Up to" covers them. Why say the exact reward which is minuscule.
