Hi,

I've been doing surveys for a couple of weeks now and I have a stupid question.

What is a realistic goal as far as how much you can make doing this? I know you see the ads saying you can make thousands of dollars a week or whatever. I know that's nonsense. But, is it possible to make, for example, $1500 a month doing this? I just don't really have a clear idea of what to expect, so any help would be awesome.

Thanks!

There is NO STUPID question when it comes to surveys. We all need to learn and this is the site to help you!! :D I have been doing surveys almost 3 years now, but am lucky to make $100.00 a month any more. The pay rate has become as low as I've seen. 2 years ago I was making over $300.00 + a month.

You will have to wait till others here can tell you how much they make, everyone is different as far as surveys Now focus groups is a different story, there you can make big money for short time. Only think I'm finding out know is that once you do a focus group, some sites will not accept you till 6 months later. Good Luck!!!

I've been doing surveys for a year now. I work weekdays and can only do them in the evening. I was averaging about $60-70 a month when I started but now not so much. Good survey companies were taken over and things have changed. I'm finding less surveys and less money paid for surveys. I'm not sure anyone makes $1500 a month, unless they are on it constantly (that would be lovely :D ). Survey companies sometimes offer invokes or product tests and online interactive forums about products that do pay higher amounts than surveys, these are bonuses and the more you get the better. With two children the extra money comes in handy. Read a lot of the discussions here and it'll give you an idea of which companies offer the best survey incentives. They know what they're doing here. Good luck!!

I've been at this for a little over two years now. Actually, three years with Pine Cone, and then added others starting in 2010.

In 2010, I averaged $115 a month. In 2011, I averaged $95 per month. This year, I have been averaging $82 per month. That's just what I have earned, not what is paid.

As we know, it can take months (and in some cases, years) to cash out. Springboard comes to mind. Since July of 2010, I have "earned" $27 with them. But since their payout is at $50, none of that money has ever been paid.

My paid numbers are 2010 - $93; 2011 - $79; and 2012 - $77.

So, as you can see from the other replies and these numbers,

1. You will not make enough to live on.

2. Earnings are certainly going down.

I have been doing surveys for a couple of years and being realistic I don't think it would be possible to make the kind of money your talking about the survey companies do not pay enough even if you are trying to do this full time I don't see how this could be possible.Good Luck and check this forum often you will get some good advice.

Rightly said by other members, survey taking cannot make you so much for a living.

Even if you are taking it full time, you d only earn close to hundred bucks may be but in the process you will be addicted or glued to your computer all day.

If the intention is only to make money, a part time job for a few hours pays much more money and is worth it.

Survey taking for long hours is as stressful as a IT specialist. So Surveys need to be taken when you have free time.

Surveys can be taken for incentives which can buy you little things you normally wouldnt buy.

I have been pooling up money from surveys to buy an IPad for myself which normally i feel is quite expensive.

And may be an xbox...i m pooling up little money(as i call it) till this year's thanksgiving and see what can i buy. :):)

The truth is if you are looking to make a significant amount of money online, you need to look at work at home sites such as workplace like home and work at home moms (which isn't just for moms!). Rat race rebellion is another good site. Surveys will AT BEST supplement an income and you MIGHT make enough in a month to pay one small bill. Payout is certainly not regular enough to depend on, though.

An individual's success with surveys varies greatly from site to site. The demographic you fit in won't be the one I fit in and so my level of success isn't a good model for you. This can further be applied to everyone posting here. One person might think a certain site is the bee's knees because they do really well on that site. Others will tell you that site is horrible and to use a different one. To a certain extent, one can rule out sites that have bad customer service and tend to have low pay for every survey but it is largely a matter of trial and error for the remaining sites.

The "problem" with survey sites supplementing income is the fact that all sites payout differently. The best payout on most sites isn't in cash but is in amazon credit. What I mean by that is when you calculate the amount of points needed for various rewards, amazon credit is usually the best deal - better than paypal and other gift codes or items. Amazon credit won't pay the bills, but it does make it easier to budget "fun money." With Swagbucks alone, I can manage about $10-$20 a month with minimum effort - enough for a kindle book or 3 or a cheap video game.

I tend to agree. I do surveys mostly just for extra cash here and there. It really comes in handy sometimes to just know I have some extra money coming in and it's something I can do in my spare time. So far Surveyhead is the only company I'm doing surveys for and have been a member there close to 3 years and one of those years I was completely inactive. I have made to date $166.00(cashed out) and have $49.?? waiting to be approved. I may decide to branch out into other companies soon but for now just don't have the extra time. I'm not getting rich or anything but like I said every little bit helps these days.

I'm glad to find this forum. It's great to learn about everyone's surveying experiences and to just learn new things about the process.

same here.. it goes into the gas pool and other things from time to time.. it's good to just come on and do some when you have free time and the money adds up.. but it's not worth it to let it become a frustration, as even i let it become.. because believe me if you take it seriously you'll be frustrated at the injustice of not getting paid for your time sometimes.. but for me, with kids at home, taking surveys just accompanies my off time when i put on my headphones and disappear from the noise of the day.. but it can become addictive just like any money making thing.. and you find yourself clicking sites all day long looking for a survey. But the good thing is, after a few months you get tired of it and the addiction wears off.. and you settle into just doing it from time to time.. or you come on and find nothing and it doesn't bother you as much and you go on with your day.

Things have slowed down -however even when they were good I dont think it was possible to make 1500 a month.Although I think men are more apt to make better money at this then women.I believe they're are less men taking surveys then women.Especially young men like age ranges from 30 to 50.
