How many pages on a topic do we really need?

I might catch heck for this but really do we need 15 pages on 1 topic?I think after awhile we lose the main idea of the topic at hand.Cant we have a limit of 5 to 8 pages.It just reminds me of that old saying about not beating a dead horse.Anyway am I the only one who feels there needs to be a limit or not?

Honestly, what bugs me more is the fact that there are usually several different threads posted on the same topic. I don't' think we really need a limit and I can start enforcing a rule that people stay on topic if you think that will help.

I'd like to also push people to look through the topics that already exist before posting - like a complaint about OO can easily be added to one of the many threads about how OO is horrible rather than starting a new topic that says "OO Is Still Awful" or whatever.
