footfree Posted July 2, 2012 Report Share Posted July 2, 2012 If you live in Texas you now have to pay sales tax at Amazon.That's because they had a warehouse here and other retailers thought it unfair that they had to collect a state tax when Amazon was exempt.Oh well I guess all good things come to a end eventually. avemaria Posted July 2, 2012 Report Share Posted July 2, 2012 i can see the point though.. it's like that with any online site.. if you have a store of that business in your state, you have to pay the state tax on what you buy.. i wouldn't be surprised to see this change in time to include any business period.. the laws were written before the net came about.. so now local businesses can't keep up.. amazon basically ships for free (i believe this is how they do the free shipping).. they take it out of what they don't have to pay in taxes.
