1957horses
Has anybody done the 23andMe spit test?? They send a kit to you and you have to kinda spit in this tube like thing and as you snap it closed a fluid sack breaks open (probably to keep it from molding or what ever) Anyway It was sent to me because of my rheumatoid, and also tells you of other diseases you my have a tendency to maybe get. Plus if you have any DNA that you have with others who may be in the system. So I got a $50.00 mastercard for the saliva sample and a $70.00 mastercard after I completed the survey, witch only took 10-15 minutes. People can send in their own saliva sample but it cost like $200.00.
cricket
To be honest, I wouldn't want to know what diseases I may get in the future. The money I'd get isn't worth the worrying I'd be doing!
footfree
Is it like the BRCA1 and BRCA 2 screen testing for cancer which means maybe you'll get it and maybe you wont. All that test was meant for is to see if you are predisposed or not but they cant say for 100 % sure you will get it.To many red flags for me like will my insurance get a hold of this info and possibly raise my rates? And the undo stress of maybe I'll will get it and maybe I wont is something I'm not willing to deal with.I guess if I had the money to fix it before I was to get something that might make a difference ,but I don't.At least this test is cheaper, they wanted over 2000 for the BRCA about 7 to 8 years ago. 1957horses
The way I see it is that I could be screened for whichever and do something ahead so I wouldn't get or to prevent something from happening. I wish I had known about the rheumatory ahead of time, but by the time I found out I have it, it was to late and was in my lower back so bad that I can't stand or walk but for a few minutes. Now I have to have someone push me in a wheel chair if I go to a store that doesn't have one of those electric carts. The pain in my lower back is from the rheumatoid and my lower back bone and it curves in. And all the specialist said it is to curved now to fix it. So you see there are advantages knowing ahead of time so to prevent or catch something in the early stages. I could have gotten the operation on my back before it was to late. My dreams of having a horse here are gone now because I can't stand long enough to clean the stall or or groom or even get back to the barn in the winter when there is snow. I could ride because that's sitting. That is why we bought our home because it it 2.3 acres and you have to have 2 acres to have a horse. I've loved horses since I could say horses.
