Hi!

I've visited SurveyPolice many times but only just became a member yesterday. Have any of you ever gotten a virus message or a virus while doing Tasks? I just got one while doing a task from Swagbucks. I'm done with that! What virus protection do you all use?

Occasionally I get a "Your computer is infected" message or some other bogus security message at Swagbucks. It's important to know that it isn't very likely that the Swagbucks website itself doing it. It's more likely that it is coming from one of the websites that host the task or special offer or it's coming from a compromised advertisement. It happens a lot and even Google has problems with malicious code in their ad network. Websites that deal with any form of commerce are a very tempting target for the bad guys.

Knock on wood but I've never gotten a virus from Swagbucks but have seen lots of posts by people on Swagbucks/Facebook who said they have gotten viruses from the videos. I use a MAC which is less vunnerable to viruses but I still run virus software. There are plenty of good free virus software packages including the one from Microsoft.

I think the "I got a virus" is not really what happened. From what has happened to me it's a re-direct to a fake virus warning page that you just have to exit out of. It even happened twice when I clicked the link to the Swagbucks blog. That's why I think it's a rouge ad and not the Swagbucks website. I sent in a support ticket complete with screenshots. They gave me 25 SBs and said they would look into it.

As for antivirus (I use the free Windows Defender on Windows 8.1) most of them can't stop the fake antivirus re-directs. I even have the paid version of Malwarebytes and it can't stop most of them.
