  1. Was that on OneOpinion? I have had that happen several times. A message to them on their FB page has always gotten it resolved. There is at least one other person posting there that had the same issue in the past week. Beginning to suspect either something is wrong with the J D Powers surveys or they may be doing that on purpose to get the data and not pay.

  2. Got a J.D. Powers survey through Point Club, for $2.75. Took me almost 30 minutes to complete, was a very boring monotonous survey on cell phones. After I completed the entire thing, got a note at the end saying “Unfortunately you do not qualify.” I got screwed and Point Club only gave me 12 points instead of 2750. The last time something like this happened (with a different router) through Point Club, I wound up having to resort to filing a complaint through BBB. I’m not doing that this time. I’m just done with this bs. I want to cash out one last through Point Club before dumping them. They totally suck. I would not recommend any J.D. Powers surveys. They are a complete ripoff.

  3. And I just finished one about mobile carriers that DQed me after I was done. Almost 20 minutes pissed away for a nickel. Why do I do this to myself?

  4. Yeah, the JD Power surveys are the most boring of all. I’m actually happy when the “you do not qualify” message pops up at the beginning.

  5. I try to avoid JD Powers for the same reason that they are long and boring.

  6. I agree, J.D. Powers surveys are too long and dull as hell, not to mention repetitive...seems like I can get the same one from different sites 3-4 times in the span of a week. That said, how are you getting 2750 point surveys on Point Club since they cut back on point values not long ago? I don't think it's really Point Club, just the fact they link to all sorts of sites, I've had some I can tell were from Ipsos-Isay, for example. In any case, sorry to hear.

  7. Update. Just noticed the nice folks at BDE added a few hundred points to my account for no other reason than putting me up to the level where I could claim that third $10 Amazon gift card. I didn't ask; they just did it. I know we generally moan and complain (and rightfully so!) about how we get treated by these survey places, but I thought it was important to recognize a place when it does go above and beyond to do something nice!

  8. Another practice that serious dilutes the value of completing surveys is the near universal deployment of routers and even routers stacked on routers. A panelist could easily be engaged in back-to-back routers for a duration longer than the survey lead that was fielded in the email or from a website. In my exchanges with panels particularly prone to this, support denies using routers or allowing clients to use routers. I think panels are all on board with this because when I challenge the ethical nature of offering a survey that only goes to a router, and that that is unethical, the scripted response is that "this is being done for your benefit", so much for having a company make decisions for the poor panelist. Perhaps that is why panels have so many cheats that can't answer legitimately, they don't want people to think. So, this is either deceit or incompetence because it happens way too often, unless these panels have a private dictionary with different definitions for words. I think if panels are going to subject panelists to routers, they should be transparent and just state so when providing an opportunity. Once a long while ago, with Branded/Mintvine I made this suggestion to support and a short while later the opportunity link on the dashboard included a note that there maybe a series of qualifying questionnaires and not a survey. This optimization did not survive the branded "Improvements" last year.
