  1. I did some surveys about $6.50, thought I would cash out. When I did they suddenly asked me to verify. Which is strange they ask all this information and let you do surveys, then suddenly they have a trust issue. They asked for a utility bill, I only have At&t because I don't own house. They decided that wasn't enough and wanted drivers license, well if they don't trust me. I am not about to give that. So after going back and worth, and some comments I made about them. They have told me that I have nothing more to say. I have dealt with a number of surveys and never been treated like this. I think most people get pissed and let it go. So they get money of your work and you get nothing.

  2. It depends on the Survey from Qualtrics. A good portion surveys that are fielded by Qualtrics are entirely client created, and Qualtrics is just managing the participants. I actually pressed Qualtrics support on the lousy surveys that are sometimes fielded and the tidbit that they are just providing the survey presentation and panelist management was revealed. This is often the case for the EDU surveys and for some survey authors English is not the primary language. You can tell more about the company by scanning the Survey domain URL in the browser address bar. There are radioactive clients of Qualtrics, and those I abort once I recognize the URL or find evidence of these clients in the TOS/privacy statement.

  3. Had one today that asked "What city" and then listed all 50 states. Anyone ever hear of proofreading?

  4. I have been doing them around 20 years, and I was shocked to see several surveys on Mypoint for 0 cents. One was for 21 minutes. I would rather them go out of business instead of wasting my time with 0 points or cents.

  5. The reason for the problems and the vociferous responses is easy to explain. This panel is owned and run by Sociopaths with LARGE bank accounts. At the bottom of the Valued Opinions home page, the reason is provided "©2020 Valued Opinions. Valued Opinions is a trademark of Dynata Global UK Limited (f/k/a Research Now Limited)". I dropped this panel like a Hot potato several years ago and that was before Dynata went on a buying binge. However, it is not possible to escape Valued Opinions Because they also manifest as Research Now. Research Now is one of the routers Dynata subjects panelists too.

  6. In a way I will miss them , but mostly not. Much prefer to be able to redeem hard earned points for something tangible or Paypal and not a chance at winning a prize (which rarely happens).

  7. I just looked them up, and Fieldwork Chicago is doing some live studies now. The don't have anything I am eligible for though.

  8. I have worked with Fieldwork Chicago, but not since the pandemic. I don't think I get many projects from them right now. They were fine before, but I was maybe eligible once a year. Nobody in the Chicago area is doing live market research studies. There is one place out near O'Hare that was considering starting live studies again, last month, and asked me how I felt about it.

  9. I realized today why I don't do a lot of surveys anymore. Today I decided to finally do some Clear Voice and Valued Opinion surveys. On Clear Voice I probably made $2, but that is only because they give you $.10 for any survey you are ineligible for. I probably spent 2 hours on Valued Opinion today, and made I think $5.50. Now I have enough to cash out for a $20 Amazon. There was one survey that told me upfront that they were going to pay me $7.50 for, but when I got through with the survey I did not get the survey credited to my account. If you go to the Valued Opinion website and log into your account there are lots of surveys that pop up. There are some surveys that I got more than once though, and there were a couple of surveys that took me forever to finish. One of those was about hospitals.

  10. I got a call back from the census again last week, and the guy told me that I had told somebody that I had resigned, and I told him no I was not resigning, but I was not crazy about going door to door. He said he would get back to me, but he has not. The problem here in the Chicago area is that most of the people that have not filled out their census live in neighborhoods that I do not consider safe and especially during a pandemic. Concerning 20/20 not getting back to you. You just have to be more patient. This is the first time in two years with them that I have gotten a project from them. All of the market research studies in the Chicago are online. I just applied fir a few yesterday, but I am sure they will not call me back because I told them I was doing this study with 20/20 right now.

  11. I know focus groups are infrequent, the last one I was in was 5 years ago. Focus panels are so rare, I treat them like found money, unplanned and nice when it happens. I'm doing 20/20 panel surveys and trying for $5 tango card in 6 months. The payout threshold is 500 points, I'm at 160 from profile questions. I was commenting on the administration of the qualifying questions for some surveys. There are repeatedly, very specific demographic questions that lead to immediate screen out, and this information was in my profile already. At least it was quick. I suspect the 20/20 Panel is padding their candidate pool with non-qualifying members because it makes for a better metric on paper for the client. In context, on SurveyMonkey Rewards app, I regularly reach the $5 threshold in 8-15 days and payout is instantaneous.

  12. I will say that I am sick and tired of all these focus group companies keeping all their studies remote via webcam or zoom, even though virus rates are very low in NYC and NJ. I have no interest in them and then have to chase after them for my pay. I have even posted on their FB pages that I hope to see more in person FG offers soon. There is only one in person research place near me that I have already been to twice for taste tests this summer.

  15. I've been doing them for about 12 years. I agree w/Dawn that you see more companies merging than anything else. But there are also quite a few survey apps that we didn't have before so that's good. I think demographics still has a lot to do with it. I personally haven't seen too much of a slow down. You are also doing a ton of surveys so you may notice more than others. At 10,000/year, you're talking 28 surveys every single day or many more if you don't do them daily. I am no where near that so I usually have surveys available on the main sites I use.
